Alcanz\u00f3 la fama mundial con la pel\u00edcula <em>El \u00e1ngel azul<\/em> (1930) y poco despu\u00e9s se traslad\u00f3 a Estados Unidos, donde adquiri\u00f3 la nacionalidad en 1939. Famosa por su elegancia, voz grave y fuerte personalidad, Dietrich fue una firme opositora al nazismo, neg\u00e1ndose a actuar en Alemania bajo el r\u00e9gimen de Hitler. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, entretuvo a las tropas aliadas en el frente y fue condecorada por su valent\u00eda. Su figura desafi\u00f3 convenciones de g\u00e9nero y se convirti\u00f3 en un icono de libertad, estilo y compromiso pol\u00edtico.
